A Heart of Midlothian FC ball boy was struck with a coin during a home tie against Celtic.
The 13-year-old was injured during the incident at Wednesday night's SPL game at Tynecastle.
Lothian and Borders Police are appealing for witnesses to the incident at the Hearts game.
The force also confirmed a 42-year-old man was arrested during the game and charged with a breach of the peace aggravated by religious prejudice.
He is scheduled to appear at Edinburgh Sheriff Court at a later date.
A police spokeswoman said: "Enquiries are ongoing following a report of a 13-year-old ball boy being struck by a coin during the game.
"We would appeal for anyone who may have witnessed the incident and might have some information regarding this to contact the police on 0131 311 3131."
